Ait la happante, when the Minister of Health Mr.
Urbaine Olanguena Awono and the German Ambassador were
inaugurating the renovation works, at the Mamfe
general hospital. When a group of students in their
uniform that were invited, to spies the occasion and
make it look colourful as usual, but this time took
the authorities by surprise storm the occasion with
their plackards which carried the following slogans.

- THE MANYU YOUTHS ASSOCIATION AND STUDENT OF THE
G.H.S. MAMFE FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM.
- OUR LEADERS JOIN US FIGHT OCCUPATION AND
ENSLAVEMENT.
- THANK YOU MR. MINISTER, BUT HOW CAN ENSLAVE AND POOR
PEOPLE ENJOY THESE FACILITIES ?

The students and activist were arrested by
the commissioner of police Mamfe and are said to be
under detention at the Gendarmerie brigade Mamfe
undergoing torture and intimidation.
All the arrested students are in their
examination classes preparing for neither the «O »
level or the « A » level examination coming up in may.
On Friday last week, about 300 three
hundred students, members of the Southern Cameroon
Youths League SCYL and those of the Manyu youths
Association and sympathisers who left from the court
to withness the case of the SCNC members arrested last
year converge after the court session at the Southern
Cameroon independent monument in Mamfe, surprising to
most of them, that the southern Cameroon independent
monument was amongst their midst in Mamfe, without
their knowledge. They gathered round the monuments,
taking snap shots and shouting slogans of the SCNC and
SCYL
The S.D.O. of mamfe called the
gendarmarie brigade commender, the commisioner of
police Mamfe, and army colonel after a brief
consetation amongst the officers, they came to a
conclusion to plead with the students to ta ke their
pictures and leave the place.
All this is in line with the
sensitisation, education, and concioustisation
campaign that has been going on in the field by the
SCYL, groups and association (THE COALITION OF THE
WILLING) since february this year.
We are hereby pleading with the
Southern Cameroonians in the DIASPORA, Southern
Cameroons Libration fronds, Human right organisation,
and all people of good will to press very hard for the
immediate realease of the detained persons whose names
are listed below :-
